McGurk's Bar Massacre campaign website and social media updates
CAMPAIGNERS for the truth into the 1971 UVF bombing of McGurk's Bar in Belfast, in which 15 people were killed, have updated their website and can now be followed through social media such as Facebook and Twitter.
On December 4th 1971, a car containing four members of the UVF pulled up outside McGurk's Bar at the junction of North Queen Street and Great George's Street. One of the loyalists got out and left a bomb in the hallway of the bar which exploded without warning. The entire building was destroyed and 15 people were killed. Many others were injured.
Collusion between the UVF bombers and British state forces is suspected.
Here is the letter An Phoblacht received from the campaign:
A Chara,
We have re-structured our campaign website for 2011 and incorporated the connectivity of social media.
The changes reflect an invigorated research and media focus as we prepare to release further startling, secret archives.
In the meantime, you can read how this evidence has driven our campaign for truth despite governmental, police and military collusion and cover-up or engage with us on Twitter or Facebook. Please feel free to forward this to any colleagues, friends or family members who would be interested in our story.
As always, your opinions and thoughts will be invaluable so thank you for your continued support.
Is mise le meas,
Ciarán Mac Airt
