Thinking of Labour? Read their Fine Gael partner's policies first, says Adams
PEOPLE thinking of voting Labour should read the Fine Gael's policies first because Eamon Gilmore made it clear on RTÉ Radio today that he intends to go into government with a Fine Gael that believes in a cuts agenda, Sinn Féin’s Gerry Adams has said.
The Sinn Féin president said the general election should be about a genuine beginning of root and branch reform of our political, social and economic systems, not a return of the failed ideology of Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael of widescale cuts as the answer instead of job creation and stimulus.
Gerry Adams said:
Eamon Gilmore has once again made it crystal clear that it his intention to put Fine Gael into Government. We have seen many times in the past what this means for ordinary working people – cuts and inequality.
At a time when the Irish people need a fresh alternative to the failed policies of the conservative parties of Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael, the Labour Party leader has decided to embrace them.
People thinking of voting Labour should make sure they read the Fine Gael policies and manifesto first, Gerry Adams said:
. . . because those policies – including welfare cuts and public sector cuts – are what Eamon Gilmore intends to implement in government.
Sinn Féin offers the only real political alternative for change at the general election, Gerry Adams said.
We propose to reduce the Exchequer deficit in a fair and balanced way. We are seeking to stimulate the economy, reform the tax system and protect low-income and average-income households.
