Adams critical of 'poor response' of Housing Executive and NI Water
GERRY ADAMS has praised families and community organisations for pulling together during the weather crisis but he also criticised what he called “the poor response” of the Housing Executive and NI Water:
I want to especially applaud the many activists in west Belfast, including Sinn Féin members, who have worked very hard to help citizens isolated during the recent serious period of snow and ice and have also provided water to those in need.
While there is no doubt that we have experienced a particularly difficult cold period, the poor response of the Housing Executive to burst pipes in homes and the loss of water and heating for families, and NIW’s ill-prepared response to the water crisis, demands that there is a full and detailed investigation into the situation.
The Sinn Féin leader said that proposals must be produced to ensure that similar problems in the future are tackled more effectively.
