Pastor scalds prisoner

Pastor Clifford Peebles, the North Belfast fundamentalist preacher charged with explosives offences last week, has been put in isolation after scalding, Tommy Crossan, a prisoner being held on remand for dissident republican activity.

On Sunday, 31 October, Crossan was waiting to use the phone in the non-segregated Maghaberry jail when he was attacked and scalded in the face and chest with boiling water thrown by both Peebles and his co-accused James McGookin-Fisher. Both Peebles and McGookin-Fisher had been remanded to the prison on Friday 29 October on explosives charges related to the discovery of a pipe bomb and two grenades in a car near Dungannon, County Tyrone.
