Justice Review taking submissions

Sinn Féin have submitted a damning indictment of the British imposed legal system in Ireland to the Criminal Justice Review Group, which is to hold a number of public consultation seminars in the month of May.

The comprehensive and detailed document opens with an apt quote from the late Paddy McGrory, which encapsulates the experiences of nationalists at the hands of British injustice: "living in an alien and hostile environment...strangers in their own land". Attention is drawn in particular, to the independent condemnations of international human rights' groups, from Helsinki Watch to Amensty International, and the international ethics in law and criminal justice aspirated by the UN.

Submissions will be taken in eight seminars throughout the six counties this month under four workshop titles each: Cross-cutting issues in the Criminal Justice System; Criminal Justice, the Community and Prosecution; Courts and the Community; Custody and Diversion: Juveniles and Adults.
