Councillor fears collusion

Michael Ferguson, a Sinn Fein Belfast City Councillor, was awoken at 2.00am on Wednesday morning 8 July by an RUC patrol who informed him that his details had `gone missing' from their files. This, they said, was making them concerned for his safety.

The `security file', compiled by the RUC contained all of Ferguson's personal details.

SF Assembly member Alex Maskey called on British Security Minister Adam Ingram to explain how the file went missing from an RUC barracks.

Expressing his concern, Maskey said, ``Over the past number of years more than 2000 similar `security files have gone missing from RUC barracks. The vast majority of these files have ended up in the hands of loyalists.''
