Harry at it again

Lurgan youth Denis Kelly, who was stopped and arrested for traffic offences by `community' RUC man Jeffery Crone (No 18297) on Saturday 29 November, has been the victim of an attempt to recruit him as an informer.

Kelly was told to go to Lurgan barracks that night and while there an RUC man calling himself Sam, but whose real name is Harry, tried to recruit him.

During Kelly's 40 minute detention Harry revealed detailed knowledge about him, where he lives and works and the fact that he is paying off a £500 fine. Harry accused Kelly of taking part in car hijackings during rioting after Drumcree this year.

Kelly was told that everything would be ``dropped'' if he would help the RUC. He is now being harassed and threatened every time the RUC enter the estate where he lives. On Monday 1 December someone calling himself Peter phoned the family home looking for Denis. His father challenged the caller, who promptly hung up when told the matter had been referred to a solicitor.
