Chris Hazzard to the British government - ‘heed calls’ for Brexit deadline extension

Sinn Féin MP Chris Hazzard has said the British government should heed calls for an extension to the Brexit deadline.

The Sinn Féin Brexit spokesperson and South Down MP said:

“The latest report from the Institute for Government is the latest in a growing number of voices calling for an extension to the looming Brexit deadline in the interests of the economy on the island.

“The report flags up the failings of the British government to properly engage with the business community and, crucially, its delays in bringing forward proposals to ensure compliance with what has been agreed in the Irish Protocol of the Withdrawal Agreement.”

Iarrann Chris Hazzard ar rialtas na Breataine ‘aird thabhairt ar an éileamh’ síniú a dhéanamh ar spriocdháta Brexit

Dúirt MP Sinn Féin Chris Hazzard gur cheart do rialtas na Breataine aird a thabhairt ar an éileamh síniú a dhéanamh ar an spriocdháta Brexit.

Dúirt Urlabhraí Brexit Shinn Féin agus an MP don Dún Theas:

‘Tá an tuairisc is déanaí ón Institiúid Rialtais ar cheann de na guthanna, ag borradh i rith an ama, ag éileamh síniú ar an spriocdháta Brexit i ndán dúinn ar mhaithe le leas an gheilleagair ar an oileán.

Tarraingíonn an tuairisc aird ar laigí rialtais na Breataine a bheith ag plé leis an lucht gnó agus thar aon rud eile, moill an rialtais aon mholadh a thabhairt chun cinn le comhlíonadh an Prótacal Éireannaigh den Socrú Maidir leis an Tarraingt Amach a chinntiú.’

Pearse Doherty demands that COVID-19 supports continue until the end of the year

Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael are up to their old tactics again: trying to sow divisions between workers to set the scene for cutting pandemic payments.

Sinn Féin are very clear: workers need certainty and security and these emergency payments should continue to the end of the year

Éilíonn Pearse Doherty go leanfar leis na tacaíochtaí COVID-19 go deireadh na bliana

Tá an tseanchleasaíocht ar Fine Gael agus Fianna Fáil arís, tá siad ag iarraidh easaontas a chothú i measc na n-oibrithe le deireadh a chur leis na híocaíochtaí pandéime.

Tá Sinn Féin ríshoiléir, tá cinnteacht agus seasmhach a dhíth ag oibrithe, ní mór do na híocaíochtaí seo leanstan go deireadh na bliana.

Eoin Ó Broin TD calls on government to extend the ban on rent increases & evictions

Eoin Ó Broin TD has called on the government to extend the ban on rent increases and evictions until the end of 2020. He added that it must also extend access to the Covid-19 rent supplement payment until the end of the year.

Eoin said:

“Minister Murphy this week must announce that he is extending the ban on rent increases and evictions until at least the end of the year.

“I will be raising this issue with the Minister for State at the Department of Housing John Paul Phelan later on this evening in the Dáil.

“There is too much uncertainty around employment and incomes for the Minister for Housing not to extend the ban on rent increases and evictions.”

Iarrann Eoin Ó Broin TD ar an rialtas an cosc ar mhéadú cíosanna agus díbirt a shíniú

D’iarr Eoin Ó Broin ar an rialtas an cosc ar mhéadú cíosanna agus díbirt a shíniú go deireadh 2020. Dúirt sé fosta gur gá don rialtas an faill ar íocaíocht forlíonadh cíosa COVID-19 a shíniú go deireadh na bliana.

Dúirt Eoin:

‘Caithfidh an tAire Murphy a fhógairt an tseachtain seo go bhfuil sé leis an cosc ar mhéadú cíosanna agus díbirt a shíniú go deireadh na bliana ar a laghad.

Ardóidh mise an cheist seo leis an Aire Stáit ag Roinn na Tithíochta John Paul Phelan níos moille anocht sa Dáil.

Tá an iomarca neamhchinnteachta i dtaobh fostaíochta agus ioncaim nach ndéanfaidh an Aire Tithíochta an cosc ar mhéadú cíosanna agus díbirt a shíniú.’

European Commission words highlight ‘Deep disconnect’ between economic reality and EU plan

Following EU Commission President’s Ursula Von der Leyen’s address to the European Parliament, Sinn Féin MEP Chris MacManus has said the Commission’s proposals shows a “deep disconnect” between economic reality and the needs of workers and businesses during the unprecedented economic crisis.

Chris said:

“Today, after weeks of delay, the EU Commission presented its proposal to fund the economic recovery. The proposal was as bad as feared by Sinn Féin and showed once again the deep disconnect between economic reality and what the EU is proposing.

“The entire logic of the plan is to only spend in line with the EU’s agenda. Unfortunately, we know from experience that this can mean austerity and regressive measures.

Tarraingíonn briathra an Choimisiún Eorpach aird ar an ‘deep disconnect’ idir fírinne na heacnamaíochta agus plean an AE.

I ndiaidh aithisc Uachtaráin an Choimisiún AE Ursula Von der Leyen leis an Pharlaimint Eorpach, dúirt FPE Sinn Féin Chris McManus go léiríonn moltaí an Choimisiún ‘deep disconnect’ idir fírinne na heacnamaíochta agus riachtanais na n-oibrithe agus ngnóthaí i rith na géarchéime gan fasach seo.

Dúirt Chris:

‘I ndiaidh moill roinnt seachtainí, chuir Coimisiún an AE a mholadh leis an téarnaimh geilleagrach a mhaoiniú inár láthair. B’fhíor an bhuairt a bhí ar Shinn Féin faoin mholadh, léirigh sé arís eile nach bhfuil fírinne na heacnamaíochta agus moladh an AE ag teacht lena chéile.

Ní chaithfear airgead murach é a bheith de réir clár oibre an AE. Tá a fhios againn ó sheantaithí gurb ionann seo agus déine agus bearta seanchaite.’
