JobPath going in the wrong direction? TDs want to hear your experience
Sinn Féin wants to hear your experiences of JobPath
PEOPLE on the Irish Government’s ‘JobPath’ labour activation scheme are being asked to share their experiences with Sinn Féin TDs after “serious concerns” have been raised with the party’s spokespersons on Social Protection, John Brady TD and Denise Mitchell TD.
JobPath is a pay-by-results job activation scheme that sees private companies paid a fee for each person with whom a “personal progression plan” is prepared.
Many jobseekers have reported their unhappiness with the scheme.
They are often forced to travel long distances to merely sit in front of a computer monitor and be stood over while they apply for online job postings.
Participation is mandatory and jobseekers cannot transfer onto another scheme such as Community Employment – even if they feel it is far more beneficial for them.
These schemes are also undermining the viability of Community Employment sector, Sinn Féin says.

The Department of Social Protection claims most participants are happy with the scheme. Some polls, however, show that jobseekers are deeply unhappy and many claim they were threatened with sanctions if they didn’t engage with the scheme.
