Woodvale memorial vandalism ‘not the act of a republican’, says Sinn Féin MLA Gerry Kelly

AN ATTACK on a memorial in north Belfast’s Woodvale area to those who died in the World Wars “is not the act of a republican”, local Sinn Féin MLA Gerry Kelly has said.

“It is a shameful attack which I condemn outright,” he continued. “The graffiti was utterly distasteful.”

Noting that this week also saw an attack on the Republican Plot and graves in Milltown Cemetery in west Belfast, the Sinn Féin Assembly member added:

“All these acts of mindless and sectarian vandalism need to stop immediately.”
