THE SIXTH annual Countess Markievicz School will commence on Saturday 23 April at Liberty Hall in Dublin, with an opening address from Susan McKay, author and journalist, founder of Belfast Rape Crisis Centre and former director of the National Women’s Council of Ireland.

Organisers say that Women of 1916: Writers and Relatives Respond promises to give a broad perspective on some of the women who took part in the Rising, including Elizabeth O’Farrell, Dr Kathleen Lynn and Rosie Hackett.
