The Irish Volunteer - Óglach na hÉireann Volume 2 - Number 64
From this date the publication went to four pages due to the increasing cost of paper. The regular Cumann na mBan column carries a report of the Inghinidhe na hÉireann (Daughters of Ireland) branch. This was based on the organisation of that name established by Maud Gonne in 1900. It was the most active branch of Cumann na mBan. It reports between 60 and 70 members, divided into squads of six members each. They meet twice weekly – on Tuesday for drill and on Thursday for First Aid and nursing lectures. Equipment bought from funds raised includes four stretchers. They report two successful test mobilisations when they held route marches through the city and suburbs. The paper also reports the establishment of a Cumann na mBan branch in Manchester , with between 30 and 40 members.
