This issue has an unusually graphic front page with the striking headline ‘Ireland’s Ruin’ which states that the future increase of the Annual British Imperial Charge on Ireland will be £8.8 million.
Francis Sheehy Skeffington addressed a meeting in the Foresters’ Hall, Parnell Square on his return from America. The meeting was chaired by James Connolly and Sheehy Skeffington reported that Irish-American opinion was largely pro-German, with even members of Redmond’s organisation in the USA now opposing his policy.
