The Irish Volunteer - Óglach na hÉireann, Volume 2 - Number 46

• Small article from The Irish Volunteer, Volume 2 - Number 46

Fr. Michael O’Flanagan, who officiated at the O’Donovan Rossa funeral in August, is reported warning at a meeting in Sligo of the effects of the war on Irish agriculture. If food shortages occur he urges resistance and says “if any Government dares to commandeer your oats, remember it is better to die like men fighting for your rights than to starve like our poor misguided fathers 70 years ago”.

Two more Volunteer organisers, Alf Monahan in Cavan and Desmond Fitzgerald in Wicklow have been jailed in Belfast Prison and Mountjoy Prison respectively.

Progress is reported by the Volunteers in County Cork.
