The Irish Volunteer - Volume 1 - Number 34
The Volunteers were in turmoil after Redmond’s speech in Woodenbridge, Co. Wicklow, on September 20th urging them to join the British Army and go overseas to fight in the war. But the crisis was kept off the front page in this issue, which even tries to put a positive spin on the Redmond speech. However articles inside make clear the opposition to fighting for England.
