This issue came out on the day before the Howth gun-running. The only hint of what is to come is a piece on the progress of the Howth corps of the Volunteers, reporting that 100 attended drill on 15 July, and that “on Sunday 26^th there will be a special parade and every member is expected to be in his place in the ranks punctually”. A piece on the making and use of explosives is entitled ‘Random Recipes’!
