Wexford Ard Fheis for Sinn Féin, a million-euro boost for local economy

THE Sinn Fein Ard Fheis takes place this Friday night and all day Saturday in the beautiful Opera House in Wexford Town.

The Ard Fheis will bring a major financial fillip for the small town, massively impacted by austerity and unemployment.

Local radio estimates a turnover of up to €1million benefiting the local economy.

All available accommodation is sold out.

Over 1,500 party delegates and members will gather for this conference, the first in Leinster outside of Dublin.

The format on Friday night includes keynote addresses by Martin McGuinness; by Mary Lou McDonald on the economy; and by Declan Kearney on the Peace Process and the past. Policing and Justice will also be debated.

Gerry Adams’s Presidential address will be broadcast live on Saturday evening at 8:30pm on both RTÉ One TV and BBC Two TV.

During Saturday, health, education, transport, Irish language, environmental and rural policy, and much more will be discussed by delegates.

Policy documents will be launched on LGBT rights, workers’ rights, and political reform.

The international affairs debate on Saturday afternoon will welcome speakers from the ANC of South Africa, Palestine, and the Basque Country.  That evening, Sinn Féin will hold a special tribute to Nelson Mandela.

This Ard Fheis is an exciting political showcase before European and council elections, North and South, in May.

Every single voter on the island will have an opportunity to vote Sinn Féin in 2014. 

By April, Sinn Féin will have 10,500 members. It is the fastest-growing political party among women and young people throughout Ireland.
