Bodenstown Commemoration begins at 2:15pm at Sallins, County Kildare
MARTINA ANDERSON will be the speaker at Sinn Féin’s Wolfe Tone Commemoration in County Kildare on Sunday, just five days after taking her seat as an MEP in the European Parliament in succession to Bairbre de Brún.
The event begins at 2:15pm at Sallins and ends at Bodenstown Graveyard, where Wolfe Tone is buried.
Martina is from the Bogside area of Derry City. She has been involved with the republican struggle for over 30 years. Having spent more than 13 years in prisons in England and Ireland, she was released under the terms of the Good Friday Agreement. She was first elected to the Assembly in 2007 and has been a dynamic figure in the party in roles as All-Ireland Political Co-ordinator, promoting and mainstreaming the all-Ireland agenda. She was also Sinn Féin's Director of Unionist Engagement.
