Luxury castle’s Household Charge of only €100
The €25m castle has 15 en-suite bedrooms, a ballroom, a wine cellar, a ‘fairy-tale tower’, stables and a lake
THE luxurious Humewood Castle estate in County Wicklow – which sold for €25million in 2006 but can be yours now at a knockdown recession rate of just €8million – only has to pay the same €100 household charge as an average Irish home.
The castle itself boasts 38,000 sq ft of accommodation – the equivalent of 25 average Irish households – and includes:-
- 15 en-suite bedrooms;
- A ballroom;
- A wine cellar;
- A billiard room, and
- A “fairy-tale tower”.
Also included on the sprawling 427-acre estate are:-
- Three staff cottages;
- Three gate-lodges;
- Private stables;
- Parklands; and
- A lake.
But despite the castle and its grounds taking up the equivalent amount of land as a housing estate, its owners will only pay the same rate as a struggling working-class household.
Isn’t it rich?
