Peadar Tóibín
On Thursday last in a packed function room in the Ardboyne Hotel, delegates from across Meath came together to select a candidate to contest the next General Election for Sinn Féin. They unanimously chose Cllr Peadar Tóibín. Cllr Joe Reilly who has been the party’s candidate for the last five elections nominated Cllr Tóibín. In accepting the nomination Peadar said, “To be nominated to contest for Sinn Féin is a massive honour for me. Sinn Féin is the oldest political party in Ireland. It has proudly stood up for the interest of all Irish people north and south for generations.
“In Meath West Sinn Féin is the 3rd largest party in what is a three seat constituency. Fianna Fáil’s vote is on the floor and they will struggle. However they will still be in contention for the second seat,” Tóibín added. “Sinn Féin is the only party in a position to create change and take the third seat. The choice is clear.”
