Cumann in honour of republican stalwart launched
A new Sinn Féin cumann named in honour of party stalwart Michael Ferguson was launched at the Mairéad Farrell House in Twinbrook, Belfast, on Tuesday 20 April.
Based in the Upper Dunmurray area, the cumann aims to draw support from within the area where Michael, who died in 2006, worked so hard.
Speaking at the launch, Matthew Brennan, who is chair of the cumann, told the members present that “they have a hard act to follow”. Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams also reflected on Michaels’s boundless energy and desire to represent the people who elected him.
Michael’s widow Louise, daughter Niamh and sister Marie attended the launch.
