Dublin dockers' victory

Sinn Féin activists supporting the Dublin Dockers
LATE on Tuesday night word came through that management at Marine Terminals Ltd had finally accepted a Labour Court recommendation on ending the Dublin Port dockers strike that has been going on for 110 days.Welcoming the conclusion to the dispute, Dublin Sinn Féin TD Aengus Ó Snodaigh congratulated the workers for standing up for themselves in the face of a determined effort by management to undermine their pay and conditions and force redundancies.
“The striking dockers have been an example to other workers who are struggling to retain their hard-won terms and conditions of employment.
“I urge the management at Coca-Cola to take a lead from Marine Terminals Limited before the strike at their company and the boycott of their products escalates.”
