KILMAINHAM: Fr Joe McVeigh and Fr Joe Mallin SJ at the spot where his father Michael was executed
Fr. Joe McVeigh of Fermanagh, the well-known campaigner for human rights and Irish unity and independence recently met up with Fr. Joe Mallin SJ (aged 96) whose father Michael Mallin was in command of the Irish Citizen Army in St. Stephen’s Green and the College of Surgeons in 1916. Joe was two and a half years old and was brought to see his father in Kilmainham Jail on the night before his execution. Our picture shows the two men in the execution yard of Kilmainham Jail.
