KILDARE Sinn Féin have established a new cumann in Newbridge hot on the heels of local election candidate Seán Downey’s strong showing.
Seán Downey explained:
“We have named the cumann after two great and deserving men: lifelong left-wing republican Bob Doyle, who left Ireland to fight against fascism in Spain, and Dinny Barry, who died on hunger strike while being held captive in Newbridge Camp during the Civil War.”
Next month will see a public launch of the new cumann in the town with plenty of good music and high-profile guest speakers are expected to be in attendance with more details expected nearer to the day.
