SINN FÉIN South Belfast MLA Alex Maskey has expressed his sympathies and those of his party to the family, friends and colleagues of the late Belfast Solicitor Oliver Kelly who died last week.
Alex Maskey said, “I want on behalf of myself, my family and Sinn Féin, to extend my deepest sympathies to the Kelly family on their tragic loss; in particular our thoughts are with Oliver’s children Caoimhe, Diarmuid, Cathal and Sorcha. Oliver’s passing is all the more harder for his family after the deaths of his brother Billy and John over a short period of time for the family. Oliver and I were interned together in the 1970’s. It was during this time that Oliver studied for his Law degree. He was my own solicitor for a long number of years.
Oliver was heavily involved in Gaelic sports and worked passionately for the Antrim County Board over a long period of years, he was a true Antrim Gael.
As a legal professional he stood up for the rights of countless citizens. His passing will no doubt be felt most amongst his family and friends but also by those people who Oliver stood up for over his many years in the legal profession.
Ar dhéis Dé go raibh a anam.”
