Ballymurphy Massacre mural unveiled
The Ballymurphy Massacre Group, made up of relatives of those killed by British Paratroopers in the days that followed the introduction of internment in August 1971, unveiled a mural on the Whiterock Road last Saturday. As well as portraits of each of the eleven victims, the mural depicts the moment before a British soldier shot dead Catholic priest Fr. Hugh Mullan as he gave the last rites to another victim Frankie Quinn. Contrary to British army statements at the time all those who died were unarmed.
