TO MARK the 40th anniversary of the death of Che Guevara, Sinn Féin made a presentation to the Cuban Ambassador to Ireland, Noel Carrillo, in the Rotunda of Dublin City Hall last Monday.
Dublin MEP Mary Lou McDonald and Sinn Féin’s 10 Dublin City councillors made the presentation, which was followed by a reception in City Hall, where Noel Carrillo provided visitors with a brief political update on Cuba.
Also present were representatives from the trade unions SIPTU and the ATGWU.
Monday’s event kicked off a week of events organised by Sinn Féin to celebrate the memory of Che which will culminate with a ‘Celebración de un héroe internacional’ Cuban night of music and food in Dublin where Cuban Ambassador Noel Carillo and Sinn Féin MLA Gerry Kelly are guest speakers.

To mark the 40th Anniversary of the death of Che Guevara, young republicans from across Derry organised and took part in a petition and leaflet handout in Derry city centre on Saturday 5 October to highlight the case and continued imprisonment in America of the Cuban citizens known as the Miami five
