IRA Easter Message 2007

The following IRA statement was supplied to An Phoblacht this week.

"On this, the 91st anniversary of the 1916 Rising the leadership of Óglaigh na hÉireann extends solidarity to the families of our patriot dead.
"This year also marks the 50th Anniversary of the Border Campaign and we remember with pride those comrades and friends who gave their lives in that phase of our struggle.
We send solidarity greetings to our imprisoned comrades and their families.
We believe that the outstanding endorsement of the Sinn Féin position last month is further validation of the initiatives and decisions taken by us in recent times.
"We believe that Irish republicanism is stronger, more united and more confident than at any time since partition and that we can achieve an end to the partition of our country and the establishment of a free and independent Ireland.
We firmly believe that our republican goal of a united Ireland is achievable through purely peaceful and democratic means. We remain fully committed to the establishment of the ideals and principles enshrined in the Proclamation of 1916.
The will of the people has been and is to see advances in the political process. The British and Irish governments and all of the political parties must ensure that this happens. We welcome the breakthrough on Monday 26 March and we commend all involved and we urge them to continue their efforts to advance the peace process.
 Beirigí Bua."

"Síneann ceannaireacht Óglaigh na hÉireann comhphairtíocht do chlanna na marbh tírghrach ar an lá seo, cothrom bliana 91 i ndiaidh Éirí Amach na Cásca.
"Sonraíonn an bhliain seo fosta cothrom bliana 50 an ‘Fheachtais Teorainn’ agus cuimhnímid le bród na comrádaithe agus na cairde a thug a raibh acú, sa tréimhse deireanach d’ár streachailt.
"Cuirimid beannachtaí dluthpháirtíochta fosta d’ár gcomraidaithe i ngeibhinn agus dá gclanna. Creidimid gur dearbhú eile é, ar na tosaíochtai agus na cinniúna a ghlacamar lé déanaí, an dóigh ar réitigh seasamh Shinn Féin leis an phobal.
"Tá muid den bharúil go bhfuil Poblachtánachas in Éirinn inniu níos láidre, níos aontaithe agus níos muiníní ná ag am ar bith ó aimsir na críochdeighilte. Thig linn deireadh a chur le críochdeighilt inár dtír agus Éire saor, aontaithe agus neamhspleach, a bhunú.
"Táimid dearbh chinnte de go bhfuil an cuspóir phoblachtach le haghaidh Éireann aontaithe inbhainte trí mhodhanna atá go iomlán síochanta agus daonlathach.
"Seasaimid go docht leis na barrsamhal agus na prionsabal ag croílár Forógra na Cásca 1916.
"Sé toil an phobail go raibh céimeanna chun tosaigh sa phroiséas polaitiúil, i rith ama.
"Caithfidh gach aon rannpháirtí, idir rialtas na Breataine agus rialtas na hÉireann ‘is na páirtithe polaitúla uilig, seo a chinntiú.
"Cuirimid fáilte roimh an chéim mhór ar aghaidh a tharla Dé Luain 26ú Márta agus molaimid gach duine a bhí bainte leis. Spreagaimid iad le leanúint leis na hiarrachtaí chun an phróiseas síochána a bhrú ar aghaidh."
