Loyalists back Wright

AN PHOBLACHT HAS LEARNED THAT a series of meetings has taken place in recent weeks in the Killycomain area of Portadown and in Moira, County Down between representatives of the UVF and UDA in mid-Ulster who have agreed to support the Portadown loyalist Billy Wright in his stand against the UVF leadership.

Up to 100 loyalists met under the auspices of an angling club in Portadown and under the guise of a Liverpool supporters club in an unknown location in Moira. Killycomain, a huge housing estate in Portadown, is known as a UVF stronghold.

The news comes at a time when tension is mounting in the area over the threat of further loyalist violence.
