THE North’s judicial system and its use of the discredited ‘supergrass’ and Diplock court system is again under the spotlight after a judge acquitted 13 loyalists following a 71-day trial costing £10million.
The north Belfast loyalists — who faced charges ranging from the assassination of UDA commander Tommy English during the UDA/UVF feud 12 years ago to UVF membership — were in the dock on the basis of ‘accomplice evidence’.
