Connacht/Uladh Cúige looks forward to continued growth

Last Sunday's well-attended AGM of Sinn Féin Connacht/Uladh Cúige in Ballinamore, County Leitrim, heard outgoing Cathaoirleach, Tina Tully, report on the Cúige's success during the past year.

Most notably included in the report were the impressive gains made in both the local and European elections in the region last June. Many new councillors were elected, including in areas where the party would not have had a traditional base before and Connacht/Uladh EU candidate Pearse Doherty rocked the body politic by receiving a massive vote.

The new Officer Board elected during the meeting included Cathaoirleach: Tina Tully (Cavan), Rúnaí: Ollie Bradley (Monaghan), Leas Rúnaí: Irene Tury (Sligo), PRO: Noel Campbell (Mayo), Cisteoir: Gerry Murray (Mayo), Ógra: Adrian Barry (Leitrim), Education/Recruitment: Sorcha Ní Dhubhda (East Galway), Director of Elections: Tony Geraghty (Mayo).

Pauline McAuley (Cavan) remains councillors' co-ordinator and joining Pauline as the region's representatives to the party's National Elected Representatives Forum are Arthur Gibbons (Sligo) and Noel Campbell (Mayo). Elected as the Cúige's representation on the Ard Chomhairle were Ollie Bradley, Chris MacManus (Sligo) and Pauline McAuley.
