Queen's Students' Union hosts collusion exhibition

Queen's University Students' Union played host to the An Fhírinne collusion exhibition on Wednesday 8 December. An Fhírinne is the campaign for truth led by the families of the victims of collusion, a policy of assassination carried out by unionist killers at the behest of the British Government. The exhibition carries the photographs and details of state-sponsored killing of Irish citizens over the past 30 years.

A brief talk was given by a representative of An Fhírinne to an assembled crowd of students on the extent of collusion. Following this, a DVD was shown featuring the families' accounts, detailing the impact of collusion and how the loss of their loved ones has affected their lives.

Deputy Students' Union President Paddy Hughes, welcoming the exhibition, said it "plays a important role in heightening the awareness of the state-sponsored murder which was a formal, politically sanctioned tactic at the heart of British policy in Ireland.

"The families have the right to know the truth about collusion and the role of the British state and its agencies in Ireland. Only the truth will ensure that this can never happen again."
