Dublin backs Luke Kelly statue
Sinn Féin Dublin City Councillor Christy Burke has welcomed the unanimous backing of Monday night's council meeting for his motion to erect a statue to singer songwriter Luke Kelly in the Docklands area or in the North Inner City.
"Luke was not just a great personal friend of mine but this statue is a fitting tribute to a man who has touched and inspired so many people," said Burke.
A lifesize bronze statue is the most likely format for the memorial.
Kelly died from a brain tumour on 30 January 1984.
