Sinn Féin expands in Galway

Due to the phenomenal growth of Sinn Féin in the last elections, a new Comhairle Ceantair structure has been created for County Galway. The party will now operate along the constituency lines of Galway East and Galway West. AGMs were held in Galway City on Wednesday the 20 October for the West of the county and in Loughrea on 21 October for the East constituency.

The new makeup of Sinn Féin for Galway West is: Cathaoirleach: Liz Brogan, Officers: Cllr Danny Callanan, Marie O'Sullivan, Jackie Rooney, Conan Campbell, Tommy Houlihan, Cillian Morris and Ann Marie Carroll.

The East Galway constituency is represented by: Cathaoirleach: Cllr Jason Devlin, Oifigeachaí: Joe Desmond, Jeane McFaull, Ken Campbell, Sorcha Ní Dhubhda, Martin Warde, Kenneth O'Brien, Caoimhín Caulfield, and Damien Mhic Chormaic.

Spokesperson for Galway East, Sorcha Ní Dhubhda explained that it made sense to set up the party on constituency lines to better deliver the Sinn Féin message. "We most certainly have our eyes on the upcoming general election and want to be in a position where we can deliver to the voters," she said.
