Brian Keenan addresses the commemoration

Belfast's Brian Keenan addressed a commemoration in Crumlin last Saturday to honour the late Dublin republican Charlie McGlade, speaking of "a long time friend, without whose lifetime work with the movement, we would not be where we are today".

Many gathered from the local area, and further afield: his family, his grandchildren, some of the many people who had known Charlie, to commemorate his death outside of his Crumlin home, which, as his daughter Maura McGlade said, "was always open house to so many republicans down through the years".

TD Aengus Ó Snodaigh, who represents the area in Leinster House, spoke powerfully of what Charlie McGlade had meant to republicans who carry on the struggle today.
