Sectarian attacks on Protestants condemned

Sinn Féin Lagan Valley Councillor Paul Butler has called on those responsible for breaking windows in the Protestant Tildarg Avenue area of Suffolk to desist and described the sectarian attack as "wrong and can never be justified".

Butler was speaking after windows were broken in four houses by men wearing Celtic football tops on Sunday 5 September. The men got out of a red Vauxhall Corsa car at around 11.30pm and started stoning houses facing onto the Stewartstown Road in West Belfast. Butler said these attacks on the Protestant community are wrong and will raise sectarian tensions. "People have been working on the ground to prevent sectarian attacks on both sides of the community and the people who carry out such attacks have nothing to offer."
