New Lodge raid by LVF

A man from the New Lodge Road area of North Belfast says he is too afraid to return to his Carisle Parade flat after a gang claiming to be from the Loyalist Volunteer Force smashed their way into his home on Monday 31 August.

According to eye witnesses the three masked loyalists shouted they were from the LVF as they kicked in the door of the flat at around 11.30pm. The gang smashed up the living room with baseball bats before making their escape towards the Antrim Road in a silver car.

New Lodge Sinn Féin Councillor Carál Ní Chuilín has called on the Housing Executive to provide adequate security for residents of the Carisle Road flats.
