East Derry Ógra Shinn Féin held a well-attended demilitarisation protest at Ballykelly British Army Barracks on Saturday 8 May. They handed the British Army an eviction notice and read out a statement reclaiming Ballykelly Barracks in the name of the Irish Republic.

Barry McColgan, Six-County Organiser of Ógra, said that in the past year, over £10 million has been spent upgrading Ballykelly Barracks. "This is a clear indication that they have no intention of going. This sort of remilitarisation by the Brits is happening everywhere across the North and completely goes against the promises they give in the Good Friday Agreement to totally demilitarise."
