Bairbre de Brún

Sinn Féin Six-County candidate for this June's European elections, Bairbre de Brún, addressed party activists, members of community groups and the public at an open night in the Lansdowne Court Hotel on the Antrim Road in North Belfast on Monday evening.

The theme for the open night was Act Locally — Think Nationally, and de Brún dealt with Sinn Féin's attitude to Europe and outlined how, if elected, she would work in Europe to develop an Irish republican agenda.

Sinn Féin Assembly member for North Belfast, Gerry Kelly, said the open night was planned to provide the public with a chance "to see the activities that Sinn Féin is engaged in and what makes the party a driving force in Irish politics".

The night also saw a presentation describing Sinn Féin's All-Ireland Agenda, outlining the history of the republican struggle and explaining how Sinn Féin intends to achieve its republican goals.
