Sinn Féin has selected Pat O'Shea to run for the party in the Dingle electoral area for election to Kerry County Council.

O'Shea lives in Curraheen with his wife Susan and their two children, Seán and Tina. He is well known throughout the county due to his involvement in community and sports groups and he is a member of Curraheen Community Council. Pat has worked in Tralee General Hospital as a mortuary technician. He is directly involved in youth projects in the county and is currently studying for a Diploma in Youth and Community Work.

Pat O'Shea vowed to continue his work as a community activist if elected and to do "everything in my power to ensure that the people have effective representation, not selective representation.

"Sensible rural planning and rural development will obviously be at the top of my agenda, along with Sinn Féin's fight to reverse the rapidly declining farming and fishing communities. As a youth worker, I know that one of the main concerns for young people is the lack of youth and community facilities in the Dingle area. The restoration and maintenance of our roads is of huge importance because the people of this area have been totally forgotten about when it comes to funding."
