Michael Dwyer is remembered

Michael Dwyer is remembered

• A large gathering attended the unveiling of a memorial stone at Kiltegan, County Wicklow, to mark the 200th anniversary of the ending of Michael Dwyer's guerrilla campaign against the crown forces. The event was organised by County Wicklow Sinn Féin and the 1803 committee. Dublin Sinn Féin Councillor Larry O'Toole gave the main oration (he is a native of nearby Dunlavin) and the stone was unveiled by Gerry O'Neill, a native of nearby Lacken and Sinn Féin's chosen candidate for the 2004 County Council election in West Wicklow. The Wicklow Comhairle Ceantair expressed their appreciation to all those who attended, in particular the Ed O'Brien Republican Flute Band from Wexford and the colour party from Wicklow Town
