The prominent Palestinian and Islamic Academic Dr Azzam Tamimi addressed a packed public meeting at the Cultúrlann MacAdaim Ó Fiaich in West Belfast on Thursday night 11 December.

The University lecturer gave a spirited talk on the current state of the peace process in the Midlde East, during the course of which he said that the Palestinian people would never accept a peace settlement that allowed those who stole Palestinian land to keep it.

Dr Tamini dismissed the present US-sponsored Road Map plan, saying that it didn't address problems such as the occupation of the Palestinian Territories and the continued theft of Palestinian land by the Israelis for both settlements and the Apartheid Wall.

Dr Tamini is Director of the Institute of Islamic Political Thought in London and Chair of the Muslim Association of Britain (MAB). He is a noted commentator on Palestinian and Middle Eastern affairs as well as on the affairs of Islamic Movements in the Middle East and North Africa and regularly appears on the news media.

The event was organised by the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign.

The Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) has produced a high quality range of Christmas cards with a Palestinian theme to raise much-needed funds for the people of Palestine.

The cards are currently on sale at the Art Shop, Falls Road and at An Cultúrlann MacAdaim Ó Fiaich, also on the Falls Road.
