East Galway selects candidates
Two candidates have been selected by East Galway Sinn Féin to contest next year's local elections in the towns of Ballinasloe and Loughrea. A very successful Election Convention was held on Monday 15 December in O Dea's Hotel, Loughrea, attended by party members and supporters from both towns.
The candidates chosen are Jason Devlin in Ballinasloe, and Eoghan Mac Cormaic in Loughrea. Jason Devlin is a native Ballinasloe resident from a highly respected local family. He works in Portiuncula Hospital and has been involved with health, unemployment, housing, environmental and youth issues in the town for a number of years.
Eoghan Mac Cormaic is a native of Derry, living in Galway since 1991 and in Loughrea for the past five years. A community development worker, he is employed by GLOR, an Irish language group in East Galway. He is Chairperson of a local gaelscoil and participates in a number of local and national organisations.
