Sinn Féin in Dundalk has selected five candidates to contest next year's Local Elections for Dundalk Town Council.

Sinn Féin currently has two elected councillors on Dundalk Town Council, Councillor Sean Kenna and Councillor Kevin Meenan.

At the convention earlier this month, Councillor Kenna announced he would not be seeking re-election next year and wished whoever was selected to contest in his place every success, promising his total support.

Louth TD Arthur Morgan paid tribute to Sean for his commitment to Sinn Féin and republicianism down through the years. He wished Sean, his wife, Eileen and their family well for the future, as did Sinn Féin Deputy Mayor of Newry and Mourne Council, Councillor Elena Martin, who chaired the convention.

Ian Dooley, Kevin Meenan, Sharon Grimes, Ann Shields and Geraldine Cassidy were then chosen to contest Dundalk's three wards.
