Councils should not invite Lisburn Council
SINN FÉIN is calling on Kildare Council to revoke an invitation sent to Lisburn Council to participate in a sporting event in October because of the council's policy of discrimination against the representatives of the Nationalist community in the borough.
Sinn Féin leader on Lisburn Council Paul Butler said his party would be writing to Kildare Council asking that any invitations extended to Lisburn Council are withdrawn.
"We will be making Kildare Council aware of how Lisburn Council discriminates against Catholics on the Council and we will be also sending councillors on Kildare Council a dossier of discrimination by Lisburn Council and asking them to support Sinn Féin, SDLP and Alliance councillors''.
Butler went on to say that invitations sent by other Councils in the future will be treated in the same way.
"By informing other councils about how Lisburn Council is controlled and run by unionists for unionists, we hope to expose the bigoted and discriminatory nature of Lisburn Council against non-unionist councillors.''
