Join with us and demand your rights

Sinn Féin is calling on people to attend a Civil Rights March from Dungannon to Coalisland on Saturday 23 August. Sinn Féin's Francie Molloy told An Phoblacht that people should demand their right to vote after the British government caved in to Orange demands and postponed the 2003 elections.

"In August 1968, men women and children marched from Coalisland to Dungannon demanding the right to vote," he said. "The march was blocked by the RUC from entering Dungannon Square and from that night on people took to the streets in an attempt to secure basic civil rights but despite the vicious opposition the right to vote was won.

"In 2003 the British government unilaterally cancelled the election to the Assembly because once again they feared the peoples choice, we are calling on all people to protect and demand their right to vote by attending the Civil Rights march in Dungannon."

"Assemble at Ann Street, Dungannon, at 2.30pm on 23 August and join with us in the march to Coalisland Square. Demand your rights," said Molloy.
