Nationalists, angry at the decision by the Belfast City Marathon Committee
to drop the West Belfast section from this year's race, say the group bowed
to PSNI pressure.
In a statement, the marathon committee said its decision to axe West Belfast
from the traditional race route was taken on health and safety grounds,
which "involved input from the PSNI".
Branding the decision an, "utter disgrace", Sinn Féin Councillor Paul Maskey
accused the committee of "insulting the people of West Belfast, who have
came out and supported this event since the beginning.
