The launch of the programme of events for Céad Bliain Sinn Féin, celebrating the 100th anniversary of Sinn Féin, will take place on Friday evening 14 January, in the historic Round Room of Dublin's Mansion House, when Party President Gerry Adams will officially launch the year's activities. This list is by no means exhaustive. Many more events will be taking place to mark Céad Bliain Sinn Féin. Events will also be organised in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East. If you would like further information on any Céad Bliain events, on the history of Sinn Féin or on any of the publications and merchandise produced for Céad Bliain, contact: Sinn Féin Céad Bliain, 44 Parnell Square, Dublin 1. Tel: 01-8726100 Email: ceadbliain@sinn-fein.ie Letter from Gerry Adams A Chairde, 2005 is the centenary year of the foundation of Sinn Féin. Tá idéalacha Fhorógra na Poblachta 1916 mar cuspóir againn, chomh maith le díograis na mílte a mhair, a shaothraigh agus a fuair bás ar son na Poblachta agus táimíd ag ceiliúradh Céad Bliain ag streachailt. We will be celebrating the party's anniversary with events in every county in Ireland — these include a major photographic exhibition, national rally, lecture series, birthday party, public meetings, womens conference, Slógadh, youth festival and much much more. Events will also take place in the US, Canada, Australia, Britain and Europe. During the year we will also produce a book of historical documents and photographs, a limited edition coin and a series of cards commemorating women in Irish history and key events of the last 100 years. With a century of struggle behind it, Sinn Féin is today the fastest growing political movement in Ireland with the youngest and most active membership and with support among the Irish Diaspora unmatched by any other political party. 2005 will mark another step closer to our goal of a United Ireland, a Sovereign Republic where, in the words of the 1916 Proclamation, all the children of the nation are treated equally. I am inviting people, young and old, to join with us in celebrating our centenary year and in building for Irish Unity. Is mise, Gerry Adams. • Calendar of Events • January 14th National Reception and Launch of Programme Dublin 29th-30th Ógra National Conference Derry Sinn Féin Céad Bliain Exhibition Derry • February Céad Bliain Celebrations Australia Launch of Green Paper on Irish unity 12th Céad Bliain National Women's Conference, Canal Court Hotel, Newry Down Sinn Féin Céad Bliain Exhibition Down 24th Night out at the Races, Cork Comhairle Ceantair Cork 26th Fermanagh Sinn Féin Dinner, Manor House Hotel, Enniskillen Fermanagh Ógra Discussion - The True Inheritors of Irish Republicanism, Trinity College Dublin Ógra Discussion - The Legacy of Connolly (The Real Alternative Left), Trinity College Dublin Fergal O'Hanlon Memorial Lecture, The Centenary of Sinn Féin 1905-2005 Monaghan • March 4th-5th-6th Ard Fheis Dublin Sinn Féin Céad Bliain Exhibition Dublin 5th Sinn Féin Céad Bliain International Music Night, Ormond Hotel, Ormond Quay Dublin 8th International Women's Day Céad Bliain Celebrations European Parliament Historical Exhibition to be held in Rostrevor Village Down 17th St Patrick's Day St Patrick's Weekend of Céad Bliain Events USA 18th-19th-20th Slódagh, Gweedore Donegal 19th Sinn Féin Céad Bliain and Local Historical Exhibition, Warrenpoint Town Hall Down 22nd-29th Sinn Féin Céad Bliain Exhibition Dublin 22nd-23rd, St Michael's Community Centre, D8 24th-26th, Ballyfermot Civic Centre 28th-29th, St Catherine's Community Centre, D8 22nd James Connolly Memorial Lecture, The Legacy of 1916, Liberty Hall, 8pm Dublin 23rd Launch of Down Dublin Streets, originally written by Eamon Mac Thomáis in 1965.
