Ógra urges support for major road safety vigil in Dublin

A NATIONAL road safety vigil is being held at Dublin’s GPO at 1pm this Saturday (15 December) by Ógra Shinn Féin, in co-operation with Labour Youth and the Young Greens, as part of its on going Moilligh Síos campaign.
The campaign aims to encourage drivers to change the bad habits that contribute to so many needless deaths each year in Ireland.
Ógra National Campaigns Officer Peadar de Bluit said Ógra had been active on the issue since the summer and would continue to do so. He said:
“Irish people have to take road safety more seriously and make a real effort to change the driving culture that exists in our country. This issue transcends borders, politics and nationality. It affects all ages, races and genders.”
De Bluit urged all Ógra activists to travel to Dublin on Saturday and send out the message that Irish young people are serious about road safety and  “we want something done about it now”.
Urging people to make a special effort to attend, he added:
“If there is any area which has not yet been active on this campaign, for whatever reason, now is your chance to play your part. Come to Dublin on Saturday and bring your friends, relatives and comrades. Make your voice heard, make sure Ireland gets the message: MOILLIGH SÍOS!”
