Demand for joint summit on collusion

Speaking on 17 May, on the 33rd anniversary of the Dublin/Monaghan Bombings, Dublin MEP Mary Lou McDonald reiterated Sinn Féin’s call for an Irish-British summit on collusion. McDonald said that if in Government after the general election, Sinn Féin would immediately initiate a Dáil debate on collusion and make a demand on the British Government for it to participate in a joint summit on collusion.
“The outgoing Fianna Fáil/PD Government promised a Dáil debate on collusion in the immediate aftermath of the publication of the McEntee report on the Dublin/Monaghan Bombings. That was another promise which failed to materialise”, McDonald said.  
“Sinn Féin met with many of the families affected by the tragedy 33 years ago today at a special conference here in Dublin in February. It is clear from that conference that the hurt felt by those families is as strong today as ever and is driving and will continue to drive their campaign to find the truth surrounding the circumstances that took the lives of their loved ones.
“If in Government after the election Sinn Féin will immediately initiate a Dáil debate on collusion and will make a demand on the British Government for it to participate in a joint summit on collusion’ she said.
“The lid must be lifted on the whole issue of collusion. The families of all those killed down the years, not just in the Dublin Monaghan Bombings but all of the victims of British State collusion deserve the truth about their loved ones. Sinn Féin is committed to the continual pursuit of that truth”, said the MEP.
